World War I   Compilation gives access to maps, timelines, document archives, images, and multimedia resources with sections on songs, poetry, graveyards, and pre-war and post-war issues.  Includes hundreds of links, for example, 20 links to websites on Women in WWI.

  • Gas Warfare  Detailed information about deadly gas attacks on the Western Front in World War I.

  • Trench Warfare   An overview of trench warfare in World War I, accompanied by photos and poems by Isaac Rosenberg about life in the trenches.

  • 1914-1918 Art of the First World War   Virtual gallery containing works by various artists on this historical event.

  • Legend, Memory, and the Great War in the Air   Covers aerial combat in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, provided by the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, Washington, D.C. Features illustrated descriptions of exhibits of airplanes used in this period such as the Snipe, the Albatross, and the Fokker.
