Uniondale High School’s Knighttime Jazz Band recently participated in the MADD Battle of the High School Jazz Bands. Held at the NYCB Theater at the Westbury Music Fair, the Knighttime Jazz Band took on East Meadow High School, Ward Melville High School, Hicksville High School and Harborfields High School.

β€œOur scholars worked diligently to memorize and perfect their performance, which was seen through the incredible show they put on for the audience,” said Kelvin Jenkins, Director of Fine and Performing Arts. β€œIn our usual U-STRONG way, we brought the crowd to their feet. I want to thank Colton Wynter and Joe Boardman for a job well done in helping mentor our Jazz Band members into the musical geniuses they are becoming.”

While the Knights did not take home the top prize overall, individual members—David Babatunde, Ayden Harrilall, Justin Joseph, and Andy Estrada—were awarded for their stellar performance, taking home the title for best trumpet section.

Uniondale is proud to offer a prestigious fine and performing arts program to scholars across the District, embodying the belief that Arts appreciation is a gift that lasts a lifetime. Uniondale is also proud of the powerful voices in the Rhythm of the Knight Show Choir. Last month, the Knights performed at the Uniondale High School’s Black History Month event and Westbury Arts Black History Month Celebration. In the orchestra department, Uniondale was proud to send the combined Smith Street and Walnut Street string orchestras to the New York Riptide Lacrosse game on March 11th.
