Enhanced Supervision and Expectations Regarding McDonald's Dear Families, I hope this email finds you well. We have recently been informed of incidents involving students traveling to McDonald's where fights have occurred. To ensure the safety and well-being of all our students, we are taking proactive steps to address this issue. Therefore, please be aware that administration and other staff members will be present at McDonald's during dismissal hours. Any student found at McDonald's between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. will face disciplinary action in accordance with school policy. These consequences can include ineligibility to participate in sports activities, prom, school trips, the graduation ceremony, and other school-related events. We appreciate your cooperation in reinforcing these expectations with your children. Our priority is to maintain a safe and positive environment for all members of our school community. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Sincerely, Dr. Brown

Dear Seniors, I hope you are well. As graduation nears, I want to ensure all students graduate on time. I will meet with students individually. If you're missing credits or Regents, I'll schedule a meeting with you and your parents to create a graduation plan. Remember, off-track students must attend Regents prep and tutoring. Failure to attend support and meetings can prevent participation in senior activities, sports, prom, trips, etc. We believe in your potential and want your success. I look forward to our meeting. Thank you, Shawn F. Brown, Ph.D.

April 2025 SUPERINTENDENT'S BRIEF Vol 2 Issue 6 Uniondale Scholars Lead the Way in Honoring Women's History Written by Dr. Monique Darrisaw-Akil March was a month dedicated to celebrating Women's history and all of the outstanding women in our lives. A highlight was the wonderful Women's History celebration organized by Uniondale High School students under the leadership of Superintendent Student Council member, Varsha Ramrookum. I was pleased to joining Uniondale High School assistant principal, Mrs. Janine Bradley, as a speaker at this event. The celebration focused on fostering inner beauty, affirmation and self-love among our students. It was great to see our young female scholars take the lead in executing this program and exhibiting leadership and the courage to implement their vision for their R AM GIRL POWER 'S future. Dear UHS Families, Just a quick and friendly reminder about selling snacks and drinks at school. While we appreciate students' intentions, school policy generally prohibits these sales to ensure fairness, promote healthy choices, and avoid disruptions. Students can sell items for fundraising with prior permission from a teacher or administration. Thanks for your understanding in helping us maintain a positive learning environment for everyone. Sincerely, Shawn F. Brown, Ph.D.

I hope all is well. It has come to my attention that there have been conflicts at the main entrance between day school and some of our night school students. Moving forward, day school students will no longer be able to enter/exit through the main gate after 3:00 p.m. All athletics and band members from day school may enter or exit through the poolside entrance. This includes all clubs, and extra curricular activities. The reason for this change is that the main door has been used as a stage for conflicts. To avoid this, I am directing students to use alternative entrances and exits. I understand that changes to established routines can cause inconvenience, and I sincerely apologize for any disruption this may cause. However, my first priority is security. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Failure to follow these directives can and will lead to further disciplinary actions. Have a great day.

Subject: Student Dress Code Reminder Dear Uniondale Families, Please ensure that your students follow the school dress code. Students should not wear clothing that exposes their midsection, and all tops must be appropriate for a school setting. Additionally, ski masks, hoodies worn over the head, and durags are not permitted. If a student arrives at school in violation of the dress code, a parent or guardian will need to bring appropriate clothing. Thank you for your cooperation and support. Best, Dr. Brown Principal, Uniondale High School

Town Meeting
Hallway sweeps will occur periodically throughout the day in the high school. We have noticed that a few students are not getting to class on time, so I will announce random hallway sweeps to ensure students are transitioning to class on time. In addition, students should not ask for the bathroom pass at the beginning or end of class unless it is an emergency. We want to ensure they receive quality instruction to improve their academics. Students who frequently cut classes must meet with the administration and their parents to address this issue. Thank you, Dr. Shawn F. Brown Principal, Uniondale High School
