Dear UHS Families, Just a quick and friendly reminder about selling snacks and drinks at school. While we appreciate students' intentions, school policy generally prohibits these sales to ensure fairness, promote healthy choices, and avoid disruptions. Students can sell items for fundraising with prior permission from a teacher or administration. Thanks for your understanding in helping us maintain a positive learning environment for everyone. Sincerely, Shawn F. Brown, Ph.D.

I hope all is well. It has come to my attention that there have been conflicts at the main entrance between day school and some of our night school students. Moving forward, day school students will no longer be able to enter/exit through the main gate after 3:00 p.m. All athletics and band members from day school may enter or exit through the poolside entrance. This includes all clubs, and extra curricular activities. The reason for this change is that the main door has been used as a stage for conflicts. To avoid this, I am directing students to use alternative entrances and exits. I understand that changes to established routines can cause inconvenience, and I sincerely apologize for any disruption this may cause. However, my first priority is security. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Failure to follow these directives can and will lead to further disciplinary actions. Have a great day.

Subject: Student Dress Code Reminder Dear Uniondale Families, Please ensure that your students follow the school dress code. Students should not wear clothing that exposes their midsection, and all tops must be appropriate for a school setting. Additionally, ski masks, hoodies worn over the head, and durags are not permitted. If a student arrives at school in violation of the dress code, a parent or guardian will need to bring appropriate clothing. Thank you for your cooperation and support. Best, Dr. Brown Principal, Uniondale High School

Hallway sweeps will occur periodically throughout the day in the high school. We have noticed that a few students are not getting to class on time, so I will announce random hallway sweeps to ensure students are transitioning to class on time. In addition, students should not ask for the bathroom pass at the beginning or end of class unless it is an emergency. We want to ensure they receive quality instruction to improve their academics. Students who frequently cut classes must meet with the administration and their parents to address this issue. Thank you, Dr. Shawn F. Brown Principal, Uniondale High School

February is a time for us to honor the profound contributions people of African descent have made to the United States and to the world. It is crucial that we make space in our curriculum and in our classrooms to teach our students about Black history, going beyond slavery and beyond the civil rights era. While acknowledging the challenges and injustices faced by Black Americans, we must also celebrate the remarkable achievements in art, literature, science, politics, and countless other fields. Black History Month is a celebration of innovation and resilience despite the struggle. Black history is American history—a story of innovation, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality. It is the story of all of us and a testament to the power of people coming together to change the world. Let us use this Black
