Dear Uniondale Family,

I hope everyone has had a great summer break. As we prepare for the new school year, I want to share our main focus for the upcoming year.

As you know, our school has grown tremendously:

• Academics: Several of our students earned mastery-level scores on Regents exams.

• AP Participation: Our AP program expanded, with a record number of students taking AP courses.

• Behavior: Suspensions dropped by over 50%, with a significant reduction in Level 4 and 5 incidents.

This progress is happening because of you—our students, parents, and staff. I believe we are on the precipice of even greater things. To continue this momentum, we must improve in two key areas:

1. Cell Phone Policy
For the most part, our students follow the cell phone policy, leading to fewer social media distractions and better focus in class. Parents, we need your help: check your child's screen time daily, and if they violate the policy, take their phone away. Consider giving them an AirTag for safety instead.

We will continue random scanning and locker searches. Additionally, opaque metal cups and thermoses are no longer allowed because students use them to hide phones. Please send your child with a clear water container to speed up the scanning process.

2. Dress Code Policy
To maintain a professional, safe, and focused learning environment, Uniondale High School will strictly enforce the central administration dress code policy. Sleepwear (including pajamas), sagging pants, and non-approved headwear must not be worn in school.

To promote a unified school community and minimize potential safety concerns, students are strongly encouraged to wear school colors (black, gold, and white) or neutral earth tones (such as brown, grey, beige, navy, or khaki). In alignment with district safety protocols, clothing, accessories, or color combinations associated with non-school groups, local crews, or specific gang affiliations are strictly prohibited on school grounds.

Students in violation of the dress code will be asked to adjust their attire or call a family member to bring appropriate clothing so they can promptly return to class.

This is a year of fully engaging our parents. Hold your child accountable for their appearance and behavior, and provide consequences at home when necessary. We need your partnership more than ever.

Welcome Back, Uniondale Family! Excited for the New School Year

Dear Uniondale High School Students and Families,

I hope you are enjoying these final weeks of summer and taking time to relax and recharge with loved ones.

Reflecting on this past year, I am incredibly proud of our scholars. So many of our students achieved remarkable academic growth, embraced high standards, and stepped up to meet new challenges. Our entire team of educators cannot wait to welcome everyone back in just a couple of weeks to build on that momentum!

As we prepare for a strong start, here are a few gentle reminders about the core habits that helped drive our success:

Punctuality: Arriving on time every day ensures our scholars don't miss key instruction and sets a focused tone for learning.

Appropriate Dress Code: Dressing for success helps maintain a respectful, unified, and distraction-free environment.

Cell Phone Policy: Our ongoing phone expectations have led to noticeable improvements in student focus, teamwork, collaboration, and real face-to-face communication. Thank you for continuing to support this at home!

Together—through strong collaboration between our school, our students, and our families—we will keep raising the bar and celebrating every achievement.

Enjoy the rest of your summer break, bring your energy, and get ready for an extraordinary year ahead. See you all very soon!

Warmly,

Dr. Shawn Brown

Huge congratulations to Uniondale High School's very own Kerwen Deller and Dashawn Bent!

Kerwen and Dashawn were recently recognized by Nassau BOCES for passing their exams and officially receiving their New York State Barbering Licenses!

This incredible milestone is a perfect testament to the importance of providing diverse career and technical education (CTE) pathways. When we equip students with hands-on skills and real-world opportunities, there is no limit to what they can achieve straight out of high school.
Join us in celebrating Kerwen and Dashawn for their hard work, hustle, and sharp skills. We can’t wait to see where their talent takes them next!
